Have I lost my mind? Maybe...
Well I guess I'd better introduce myself. I am not really 55 until the 26th of October, 2008.
I live in just west of South Central, Pennsylvania and currently own 2 horses.
Belle is 6, Banjo is 16 months old.
They live about 2 miles away on a farm.
Hubby knows if I outlive him, the next day I am stringing fence.
I want my horses with me!
Unfortunately, our 3 acres is all hill and horse hooves would do a lot of damage to the ground.
When I first thought about getting a horse and picked one out, hubby said OK on one condition - no fences here. I had to find a place to board her. I went door to door!
I found a lovely empty barn and field with wooden fence only to have the owner say no.
Finally I saw the farm owner along the road talking on her cell phone. I asked and she said "I don't know why I should, but I don't know why I shouldn't!" I found my place. There were already 3 horses there. I asked how much board would be, but the lady said she was not worried about that. I took a look around and there was lots of cleaning up to do so I offered to clean up the barn and barnyard.
That took a few days and a lot of work. Soon Cheyanne came home! The photo above was the day I brought her home. She was a qh/ walking horse mix and she was carrying a suprise. More later...
